Visual Studio We Could Not Download A License

Visual Studio Community Edtion 2017 - Can't download new license file.
Hi
Running Windows 10 LTSC 2019 with VS 2017 Customs Edition.
All students have Microsoft accounts using Office 365.
When signing into Visual Studio, it shows the trial license file has expired. When trying to download an updated license file we get the error:
"we could not download a license. Please cheque your network connection or proxy settings". I accept tried a number of users with the aforementioned error.Nosotros are using Smoothwall with HTTPS interception, but I cannot come across for the life of me what is blocking this, either from a web filter side of things, or firewall related.
I take tried numerous users with dissimilar permissions logging in, and too different IP locations around the site with the same problem (to avert HTTPS interception).I take also tried the following after several forum posts/searches:
1) updating Visual Studio using the inbuilt Visual Studio Installer
2) Repairing Visual Studio " " " " " "
3) Setting IE as the default browser
4) Calculation a line to the devenv.exe.config file to include a proxy setting (from Microsofts own site) but this just breaks VS, and it wont launch or gives errors
5) Given upward!Whatsoever ideas/solutions to this one?
Thank you

How-do-you-do techie,We are having exactly the same consequence today, It was working fine yesterday. We take a similar setup using VS2017 Customs with Students O365 accounts, Too tried our Backup Broadband connectedness with no firewall or Proxy Server and become the same results. I have now put it down to a Microsoft outcome and was on here looking to encounter if anyone had a similar problem to verify my suspicions. Also tried Hotmail accounts etc. rather than enterprise O365 accounts and no difference.
From looking at Wireshark traces its connecting to our proxy fine and traffic is being sent back and along when the request licence file is pressed only the error is still given.
We have Sophos UTM's so its not a Smoothwall issue either. Was going to see how it looks on Monday at present as I have ruled out most things here.

Spent all day hammering at this one besides! Up to and including "sod it, I'll download and install 2019", which hasn't fixed the problem only has at to the lowest degree started a new 30 day trial.
I've fixed it in the past by running
but that's doing sod all today. Gave upwards around lunch figuring it might be Microsoft'southward end and I'll attempt once again next week. Seeing y'all with the same issue makes me recall I made the right call in that location!Code:
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Community\Common7\IDE" devenv /resetuserdataI was going through Fiddler logs--it makes 3 calls every fourth dimension y'all click that link, and the last ane (when you lot went to the URL in a web browser) was returning nowt merely null, so I suspect it is them.

Visual Studio 2017 isn't supported on LTSC. Maybe MS are making skillful on that requirement. Tin you try a SAC version?

From MS' point of view LTSC is but meant for boiler control PCs etc. If your developing for current versions of Windows you'd be using SAC.

TBF, I think this result is wider than that requirement--we're just on 1803, non any LTSC version.Originally Posted by free780

Welcome to the SAC club. May the odds be ever in your favour of chasing down that final 1607/1709 etc.
